The U.S mission just announced a $285 Million dollar budget reduction from the U.N’s general operating budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. The statement released by the U.S Mission read, “…we reduced the UN’s bloated management and support functions, bolstered support for key U.S. priorities throughout the world, and instilled more discipline and accountability throughout the UN system”.

This comes after the crucial vote regarding the U.S moving its embassy from Tele Vive to Jerusalem, which has caused a major uproar in the international community. Trump suggested earlier this month that the U.S. may cut off foreign aid to nations who voted for the U.N. resolution, and Haley said the U.S. would be “taking names.” It comes then as no surprise that the current administration, long known for pushing a vendetta based governing style, would reduce the U.N. Mission budget is such an immediate and critical way.
